Upcoming Training Opportunity – Distributed Fiber Optic Sensing and Monitoring

The SCTE Green Mountain Chapter would like to invite you to participate in a Technical Training Session on

Distributed Fiber Optic Sensing and Monitoring

Date: Tuesday, June 18th, 2019

Time: 11:00 am – 12:00 pm EDT

Location: webinar (see instructions below)

Event Description: Join us to learn how new technology allows you to identify strain on your cables that can cause premature aging or breakage. Classic OTDR is blind to this information, but now you can see strain or temperature information using Brillouin-OTDR or temperature using Raman-OTDR.

Please join VIAVI fiber experts at our webinar for a discussion of how fiber sensing can harden your fiber plant at installation. Distributed Fiber Optic Sensing (DFOS) can be used to protect valuable fiber and electrical infrastructure to reduce cost and improve the risk of management of these plants using real world examples.

Register today to attend and learn about:

  • An introduction to how fiber sensing works
  • Measurement options including portable field use cases versus permanent monitoring
  • Use cases for installation of subterranean, aerial, and submarine cable
  • Sensing for strain on cables in service to protect cables carrying live traffic
  • Electrical cable hot spot detection

Presenters:

  • Stephanie Burris, Product Line Manager, Fiber Monitoring, VIAVI Solutions
  • Dr. Vincent Lecoeuche, Fiber Optics Engineer, VIAVI Solutions

**Please register using the link below**

The webinar link will be included during registration.

Once your attendance is logged, you’ll receive a certification of completion via email.

2019 Vendor’s Day and Vendor Reception

The Annual SCTE Green Mountain Chapter’s Vendor Day is here! This venue, as well as others nationwide, has become a major event for vendors to display their products and services to the broadband operators. We anticipate very strong attendance of industry professionals.  Last year’s event included over 30 vendors. This year we will be adding a Chairman’s Reception the night before at the same location! This is an excellent chance for vendors to position their products and services to the broadband community in this region. This is the first time we have offered this event. The Reception will allow the Vendors to talk and meet Senior Leaders and Key Note Speakers of the industry before the day of the show in a relaxed atmosphere.

WHEN:
