CNR, SNR, MER

Ron Hranac – Cisco Systems, Inc

Wednesday, September 23, 2015 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM

This presentation provides an overview of three commonly used metrics in cable networks: carrier-to-noise ratio, signal-to-noise ratio, and modulation error ratio. There is often a lot of confusion about CNR, SNR, and MER, and what each really means.
Attendees will learn how the three measurements are made, and what the numbers can indicate about signal quality and network performance.
